Martina Smit graduated from the Radboud University in 2005. She first worked with an insurance broker, an underwriter and at an insurance intermediary. Subsequently she joined another law firm specialised in transport and insurance law. As being interested in transport law in general while also having a special interest in insurance law, she practiced in both areas. In 2008 she followed a postgraduate course on transport law at the Grotius Academy for which she successfully graduated.
She joined our firm per 1 October 2009 and still focuses on the liability and insurance – dry and marine – area, in addition to general transport law.
Martina has a strong personal interest in the insurance industry. She is a member of the Society for Insurance Science in the Netherlands. She is also a member of several insurance business clubs in the Rotterdam and Amsterdam area. As per September 2015 she is a member of the board of one of these business clubs: the Rotterdam Bourse Property Insurance Club.
She gives presentations on insurance and liability topics on a regular basis. She is committed to contribute to the education of students and (young) insurance professionals. Martina has a particular focus on business development in the insurance industry and is one of the co-founders of the Brandzekerheidscan.
