International Maritime Law Seminar 2013

Jennifer Hoovers
11 December 2013

On 26th September 2013 the International Maritime Law Seminar took place in London. Van Steenderen MainportLawyers hosted the seminar together with 14 other law firms from different jurisdictions in North and South America, Europe and Asia. This year’s topic was “Recent Developments in Maritime Law: A Multi-Jurisdictional Perspective”, with presentations on recent case law, newly adopted maritime codes and developments in the relevant maritime markets.

Some 250 key people from the London Shipping and Insurance market attended the seminar in Gibsons Hall and we believe the seminar was very well received. Jennifer Hoovers presented a paper titled “Recent developments in Dutch maritime law: Ship arrests after the “Costanza M”, especially focusing on the recent extensive interpretation of the 1952 Brussels Arrest Convention by the Dutch Supreme Court and the subsequent increase of arrest possibilities in the Netherlands.
